The Man Cave
A long time ago, I read the book "Men are from Mars, women are from Venus" by John Gray. I learned about the typical patterns of men and women, which simply are our typical needs. How we women have our roller coaster moods and often just need to vent, while men rather want to solve the problem. Lately, I have come to notice a shifting trend though, where guys seem to both discuss their looks and their relationships more, while I myself have waited years to get problems solved!
One of the things, I remember from this book, was the need by men to have their own solitude at times. To retreat to their own "cave" to perhaps make or repair something, or simply be, I reckon. I applied that immidiatetly in my then relationship.
And the other day, it struck me that maybe this need developed into going to church in our history, and to even have your own chapel, like this one in Portugal.
Did the chapels in our backyards even become garages and that is why men like having their little shop there? Is it time for a turn of the tide back to building new home chapels? What a trend that could be for owners of big mansions, or alongside a lane of houses for a place to sit still!
What many men still doesn't seem to know though, at least for me, is that it's when they show their true emotions, including sadness and fear of failure, he will get my most support and loyalty. A true way into my heart.
I'm glad if you want to put your head on my chest and let me hold you, while you hold our home. It's then it becomes a balance.
