What if we all this time, have been led to believe that God is a mysterious power, when it is in fact the sun we mean? Did God create the Sun too, or just the Earth? Is it His face shining upon us?
To me, God is an Almighty Power of Love and Authority, that is a little like a boss. The head of prophets like Buddha, Jesus and Muhammed. Thus, these enlightened masters, and others, are on an equal level but under God. Therefore, it's not to go against God, to believe in either. They simply are geographically and historically different. To only believe in gods, or goddesses, however would be blasphemy, or idolatry, which I am against.
