If you are anything like me, don't you want to start next year with a clean slate? The lack of communication is often obvious and as always it's a matter of a) replying b) responding c) resolving. For this to happen there are a couple of factors to consider:
1. You must respect and acknowledge the other person's opinion and situation.
2. You must be willing to listen to how you have contributed to it.
3. You must want to be truthful and express not just mere sympathy but agree to solve the problems.
We do this by looking at the facts and responding accordingly. Answer questions like: What went wrong? What is bothering you? What do you feel and why? What is important? Which different solutions can we look at? How can we part or move closer? What is reasonable, realistic and affordable? Which goals can we set together? How can we check back with each other to maintain this progress towards more trust or simply keeping the peace? How does this make you feel and how is it for the other person? What do you want me to do? What can you do for me?
Best thing yet. There won't even be a conflict when you share your candid point of view directly to the person in question and follow up in action (especially on the job!).
