This past Sunday, when I attended Mass at St Eugenia's in Stockholm, our priest talked about how we reach enlightenment through our faith in, and lessons by, Jesus - healer and teacher. No wonder then, how wrong it can become when yoga practitioners speak of enlightenment, but without including Jesus.
Enlightenment to me, isn't so much about gaining more knowledge about a subject, but when we reach spiritual enlightenment, we experience an expansion of our hearts. A shift of perspective, from looking into our hearts, to looking from our hearts outwardly at the world and acting accordingly. This could also be true for Buddhists who sets forth from a place of loving-kindness and compassion.
What is enlightenment to you?
