Harvesting wild treasures

The first thing I noticed when I moved here, more than two years ago, was the bushes alongside the larger path through the forest. They must be growing blueberries and lingonberries, I thought. But much to my dismay, the two first falls here, I never saw any growing. Whether that was bad years, or someone keen on picking them all directly, I don't know. But the other day, I saw this! First time ever as an adult finding and picking wild berries!

Blueberries in abundance. Small and sweet.

A couple of days after, my inner child beckoned me to go back to the forest to see if I could pick some lingonberries too. I wasn't sure if they were ripe yet, but didn't want to miss my chance. On a whim, I made some traditional jam by cooking them together with some melted sugar and a little water. In Sweden, we traditionally serve this with meatballs or make a lemonade with. It became just right.

There is nothing like the taste of the wild!
