Married to work?

Sitting in my rental apartment in Stockholm, Sweden, breaking in my new Macbook Air and iPhone. Haven't been able to upgrade my equipment for many years, so this feels fun in a most grateful way. My writing is like an extension of me, a constant companion and necessary for me to keep my balance, process my life and share my opinion. I also hope that what I share can benefit others, as well as to be of service again, whether that is through businesses' use of my copywriting or through my coaching of personal and business clients.

To me, having an income and trying to get one, is the most fundamental need always, wherefor my work so often become prioritized over other things. (Although, I use the computer to play too of course, such as for dancing!) It seems like that the common belief in society by norms, is to get married first, or have that as a prioritiy, but to me that comes second, so that I can have my own firm foundation to stand on first, and not solemnly be dependent on a new man, that I still have to get to know. So that we can build something together as equals, at least symbolically. The irony is of course, that I probably would get a job faster if I was married, "so I can help contribute to my family". Did you know? A guy, younger with less education and experience than me, once got 500 USD higher monthly salary than I, at an advertising firm downsouth of Sweden, since he had children. Did it ever occur to them, that I haven't been able to have any children, because of not having a good income? Swedish equality, my ass.

Back to writing and creating. There is something wonderful about choosing what to bring into a fresh start, such as which documents and photos to copy. It becomes a way to put some things more behind me. This doesn't mean I want to lose them, obviously, only that I'd like to be able to focus and move forward with my plans, while still being open for suggestions and opportunities that may come my way. Without constantly having to prove where I've been.

New computer and phone, new life.
