This past Wednesday, I attended a Bible study MeetUp on Zoom, that I regularly do. This time, we watched a sermon from a pastor in Atlanta, GA, speaking of realizing the miracle of our creator, both when it comes to the universe with all the galaxies, planets and stars, as well as the universe we have within. It turned out to be one of those occasions that mirrors and leads me forward, especially since I'm thinking about writing a book about Creativity and want to have some of the Creation included.
He quoted St Augustine - which happened to be the only book by a saint I got, in Portugal. And it felt both timely and fitting, since I've just undergone several surgeries these last three years, including one just less than two weeks ago. The quote reads:
"Men go abroad to admire the heights of mountains, the mighty waves of the sea, the broad tides of rivers, the compass of the ocean, and the circuits of the stars, yet pass over the mystery of themselves without a thought."
The fascinating similarity, was the pastor's realisation of how the connecting DNA-cells in our bodies, resembles a cross and is called Laminin, working as the glue tying it altogether. One of the staff at the psychiatric ward, where I was taken in by the Swedish authorities on false grounds 2021-23, is called Lamin. He did help me to keep together, by often playing music when he worked. All to realize how our bodies, are a miracle in themselves, the way they function everyday. While I feel often aware of its internal messages, it's easy to forget that it is, indeed, a miracle to just be alive. Something I've grown more appreciative of, these last couple of years, especially after feeling so well in Portugal.
